Open the ring generator

Render of a band with a repeating relief pattern of crosses set in square panels.

In Morcano Studio you upload your own SVG and repeat it around the band as an engraved pattern. You choose how many times it repeats and how deep it is cut, and the studio checks the file before you download it.

How to put your own pattern on a ring

  1. Prepare an SVG

Draw it with filled shapes. A hairline thinner than the 0.4 mm of a standard nozzle cannot print.

  2. Upload it

The studio engraves the shapes into the band and repeats them around it.

  3. Set repeats and depth

Choose 1 to 48 repeats and a depth from 0.15 to 1.0 mm. The default, 0.6 mm, is three layers at 0.2 mm.

  4. Check and export

Read the status card, then download 3MF or STL.

  5. Print

Use a home FDM printer, standard PLA and a 0.4 mm nozzle.

Tip.A pattern is engraved in the colour of the band. A second colour is confirmed only for engraved text, and it needs an AMS. See Text and pattern: engraving depth and second colour.

Try it in the studio

The free plan gives 3 designs a month on each generator. Paid plans are on the plans page.

Questions

What kind of file do I use for the pattern?

Your own SVG. The studio engraves filled shapes. Outline strokes without a fill, text and embedded raster images are not engraved.

How many times can the pattern repeat, and how deep is it?

The pattern repeats from 1 to 48 times around the band. Engraving depth runs from 0.15 to 1.0 mm, with 0.6 mm as the default.

How do I know the file will print?

Every export is checked before it downloads: watertight geometry, a single shell and sufficient wall thickness. If a setting will not hold up, the studio tells you which one to change.

Licence

On the Free and Maker plans you may print your designs for yourself and as gifts, not for sale. Selling the printed pieces needs the Seller or Studio plan, which include the commercial licence and a licence certificate for each design. Pieces made during the free beta, before paid plans launched, may still be sold on the terms of that time. The exported files themselves can never be resold or redistributed, on any plan.

This is a summary. Read Can I sell rings I 3D print with Morcano? and the Terms, which are the authoritative text.
